Abstract

A new record species Kaempferia champasakensis Pichean. & Koonterm (Zingiberaceae) to the flora of Vietnam is collected on the sandy land, under semi-deciduous sparse forest of Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve (Ba Ria-Vung Tau). The differenct characteristics between K. champasakensis and Kaempferia genus species were presented. The new taxon can be easily recognized by its leaves (2-3), blade horizontal, near the ground; pure white flowers with the labellum divided twothird to the base and the large white ovate-elliptic to suborbicular anther crest with greatly varied apex. The detailed description and illustrative pictures based on collected samples of Kaempferia champasakensis in Vietnam were reported in this study.
